Volume 94

  • No. 12 December 2014

The mechanisms by which nestin depletion induces melanoma matrix metalloproteinases and invasion are discussed in the paper by Lee et al (p 1382 this issue). The cover shows that the intracellular expression pattern of phosphorylated FAK (pFAK, red) in vector control nestin (green)-expressing cells of the A2058 cell line consisted of coarsely-clumped intracellular and peripheral zones of immunoreactivity.

  • No. 11 November 2014

The cover shows a three-dimensional volume rendering reformatted from Micro-CT data sets, which displays the differences in vascularization density in tumor nodes compared with non-neoplastic liver tissue without cirrhosis or tumor manifestation. For more information see the paper by Kampschulte et al, page 1273, this issue.

  • No. 9 September 2014

The cover shows ultrastructural changes in the blood-brain barrier of aquaporin-4+/+ and aquaporin-4−/− mice. For more information, see the paper by Chu et al, page 1042, this issue.

  • No. 8 August 2014

The cover shows intestinal villi expression of an adenovirus vector incorporating a myeloid cell-binding peptide. For more information see the paper by Lu et al, this issue.

  • No. 7 July 2014

The paper by Shahrabi-Farahani et al (p 752, this issue) examines the expression and localization of neuropilin 1 in squamous cell carcinoma. The authors show that expression of neuropilin 1 is regulated in the skin and is selectively produced in differentiated epithelial cells. The cover shows human skin stained for neuropilin 1 and keratin 14.

  • No. 6 June 2014

The cover demonstrates nephrocalcinosis in Enpp1asj mice by computed tomography. For more information see the paper by Li et al on page 623, this issue.

  • No. 5 May 2014

Cover: The cover shows anti-histone H3 immunostaining in a control eye (left) and an eye with retinal detachment (right). Histone H3 positive reaction (red) was mainly observed in the nucleus; however, histone H3-positive fragments were observed in the outer segments and subretinal space of eyes with retinal detachment (right). For more information see the paper by Kawano et al on page 569, this issue.

  • No. 4 April 2014

Cover: The cover shows x-rays of mouse hind limbs, revealing lytic bone lesions from lung cancer metastasis. For more information see the paper by Hung et al on page 371, this issue.

  • No. 3 March 2014

Cover: Agenesis of the corpus callosum in the transgenic mouse strainTAS. Coronal sections through the rostral levels of the cerebrum in adult wild-type (top) and adult TAS (bottom) mice were stained with Klü ver-Barrera. For more information, see the paper by Mizuno et al, this issue.

  • No. 2 February 2014

The cover art is from Puccini et al on page 161, this issue. This study shows that coxsackievirus preferentially targets nestin+ progenitor cells in the central nervous system, causes damage to the choroid plexus, and down-regulates critical immune response genes.

  • No. 1 January 2014

The cover shows immunofluorescence staining of glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor expression in normal pancreas of a Wistar rat. For more information see the paper by Nakamura et al on page 63, this issue.
