Piero Biancani  

Piero Biancani obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Mechanics from Yale University in 1971. He is presently Professor of Medicine and Surgery at Rhode Island Hospital and Brown University. Throughout his professional career he has investigated contractile mechanisms of the esophagus and lower esophageal sphincter, and inflammation-induced changes in their contractile signal transduction pathways.

Karen M. Harnett

Karen M. Harnett  

Karen M. Harnett obtained her Ph.D. in Pharmacology from Boston University in 1988 and is presently Assistant Professor of Medicine and Molecular Pharmacology at Brown University. Drs Harnett and Biancani have been collaborating since 1989. Dr. Harnett's research interests include contractile mechanisms of the esophagus and lower esophageal sphincter, and inflammation-induced changes in their contractile signal transduction pathways.
