For this issue we have searched the published literature for evidence that is of direct relevance to general practice. Every practitioner who reads this issue will find something that enhances the efficiency, effectiveness or safety of their practice

This issue of EBD attempts, as always, to answer some of the more difficult and challenging questions in dentistry. It examines some of the more contentious interventions that may , or may not, offer help to patients, and explores techniques and interventions which are likely to be, but are not yet proven to be , effective.

EBD is once again dedicated to exploring the evidence about Covid 19 and how it relates to dentistry and oral health. It also seeks to offer evidence about the best way to continue to practice dentistry while protecting the safety of staff.

While remembering that we are now a year into the Covid 19 crisis, on which the next issue will focus exclusively, this issue concentrates on identifying and examining the links between lifestyle, and systemic and oral disease.
