Abstract
ACETYLCHOLINESTERASE (AChE), an important component of a variety of excitable membranes, seems to be associated with excitability1. Considering the possible role of AChE in the electrogenic action of cholinergic agonists, we prepared antibodies against AChE purified from the electric organ of Electrophorus electricus. This paper describes the cytological distribution of material reacting with a rabbit anti-AChE serum which, after absorption with eel serum, appears to be immunochemically homogeneous, in contrast to antisera recently obtained by others2.
