Thanks to ongoing public health communication efforts, patients are more aware than ever of the high sugar content of commonly available carbonated drinks. However, awareness of their acidic properties (with some showing pH values as low as 2.5) – and therefore their erosive potential – is less widespread.

Cylindrical Suction Enterprises Inc. is proud to announce the Stror, a unique innovation that combines the technology behind pH 'indicator strips' and the humble drinking straw to create a tool that safeguards patients' oral health against the erosion caused by acidic drinks.

Simply immersing the Stror in the patient's libation of choice produces an immediate colour change that – when referenced against a colour chart (also provided) – gives an accurate indication of the pH of the drink.

Not only does this give patients advance warning of highly acidic drinks, but also ensures that – should they decide to consume the beverage despite this warning – it is delivered past the anterior teeth, thus minimising the erosive potential of the drink.
