Retraction of: Nature https://doi.org/10.1038/nature13811 Published online 1 October 2014
The Editors have retracted this article. Concerns were raised regarding potential anomalies in the census and experimental data on the aggressiveness and docility of the spiders and the experimental data on prey availability. Post-publication review concluded that the data are not reliable. The Editors therefore no longer have confidence in the results and conclusions of this article. Jonathan N. Pruitt disagrees with this retraction. Charles J. Goodnight is deceased.
