Unbelievably, BDJ Team is five years old this year! It seems only five minutes ago that we launched our online monthly magazine, and yet so much has happened since (I've certainly had my hands full with two new additions to the family). I got in touch with some of our interviewees from 2014 to see what they have been up to in the last five years, and in this September issue we catch up with Jacqui Elsden. In 2014 Jacqui was studying for an MSc in Advanced and Specialist Healthcare. Today she is President-elect of BADN. I was delighted to hear of Jacqui's continuing success and career advancement.

We will catch up with other former BDJ Team stars in upcoming issues.

Also this month we present 20 important FAQs on periodontal care in general practice. When this article was published in the BDJ it proved hugely popular on social media, so to open it up to a wider audience, the authors agreed to share it with BDJ Team readers as well. You can earn an hour of verifiable CPD after reading it.

After the summer break in BDJ Team's schedule, this issue is jam-packed. We meet two dental nurses who won awards after completing BDA post-registration certificates in dental radiography and oral health education; practice manager/journalist Priya Sharma writes on patient expectations; Lisa Bainham from ADAM focuses on implementing change in the dental practice; and we place the spotlight on how to manage a patient who is choking (essential reading for medical emergencies).

We also have our regular news stories. If you or your dental practice have some exciting news, I'd love to hear from you. Drop me a line.
