Abstract â–¡ 113
In the course of 7 years /1990-1997/ we have diagnosed and referred for proper treatment patients with various congenital respiratory tract anomalies. The age span of children in our study group was between 5 days and 14 years. Among the diagnosed conditions were: pulmonary agenesis, pulmonary hypoplasia, congenital emphysema and vascular abnormalities. The presenting symptoms and the manifestations of the respiratory tract conditions mentioned above were diverse. Based on the detailed analysis of our data we have concluded that early diagnosis of the pulmonary malformations and fast referral for appropriate surgical treatment is of great importance. It has basic consequences for the outcome of the surgery and further prognosis.
