(Co-sponsored by the American Pediatric Society & Society for Pediatric Research)

The purpose of the medical student research training program is to encourage gifted medical students to consider careers in research related to pediatrics. The program is specifically designed for students seeking a research opportunity at an institution other than their own medical school. This scholarship gives them a maximum stipend of $2,500 and enables them to spend eight to ten weeks at 40 hours per week in a research environment. We currently have 475 laboratories and research experiences available to students. If you are interested in participating in this program or know of other who would be interested in having medical student from another medical school work in their laboratory, please contact the APS/SPR Office for information. We have created a central information desk which we hope will act as a clearing house for matching interested medical students with laboratories that might fit their research interest.

Through contributions from the APS/SPR and other organizations, 37 students were funded in 1997.
