FACULTY POSITIONS IN DEVELOPMENTAL BIOLOGY

Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research Indiana University School of Medicine

Applications are now being accepted for four new tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor for a new research group in developmental biology. Areas of interest include developmental neurobiology, genetics, gene regulation, cell-cell interactions, and signal transduction pathways. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree, and have a record of research productivity and grant support. Successful candidates will have academic appointments in Pediatrics and in a basic science department of the Medical School, and are expected to establish a strong externally-funded research program and contribute to graduate and medical education. Positions come with generous start up packages. This recruitment represents an expansion of the Wells Center, a highly interactive and multi-disciplinary research center. Active programs currently include hematopoiesis and myeloid gene regulation, gene therapy, DNA repair, and fetal and neonatal metabolic physiology. Transgenic and gene targeting facilities and a mass spectrometry core facility are available on site.

Meeting

The Society for Adolescent Medicine

The Society for Adolescent Medicine will hold its annual meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, between March 4-8, 1998 focusing on “Health Services Research and Outcomes”. In addressing this topic, the meeting will present new material on adolescent physical and emotional health, AIDS and HIV medical management, teenage sexuality, eating disorders, depression, and drug and alcohol abuse. Meeting presentations include 2-hour clinically-oriented workshops, 4-hour institutes on current and timely topics, luncheon seminars, scientific research paper presentations and poster sessions, and the prestigious Gallagher Lecture Series.
