MOLECULAR MEDICINE AND INHERITED DISEASES: RETROSPECTIONS AND OUTLOOK
A symposium in honor of Prof. Richard Gitzelmann, will be held at the University Children's Hospital in Zurich, Switzerland, April 17, 1997. Speakers will include F.H. Sennhauser, C.C. Kuenzle, C. Bachmann, V.A. McKusick, J. Spranger, C.R. Scriver, D. Valle, H. Galjaard, and G. Duc. Topics will include advances in human medical and biochemical genetics over the past forty years, novel results in human morphogenesis, future perspectives for genetic medicine, and social implications of advances in human genetics. Call for Nominations 1997 and 1998 Agnes Higgins Award
The March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation is seeking nominations of qualified persons for the 1997 and 1998 “Agnes Higgins Award”.
The award is presented in recognition of distinguished achievement in research, education or clinical services in the field of maternal-fetal nutrition.
The candidate must have:

been widely involved in maternal-fetal nutrition through teaching, research and/or clinical practice for at least five years;

2
shown a demonstrable effect in raising the quality of maternal-fetal nutritional care through scholarly pursuits, research, education and/or practice;
-
3
demonstrated ability to apply maternal-fetal nutritional standards of practice and/or facilitate their implementation by others.
Established in 1980, the award honors the late Agnes Higgins of the Montreal Diet Dispensary for her innovation and years of service to the cause of improved maternal nutrition which has contributed to the well-being of thousands of babies.
Winners for both years will be selected in 1997. The deadline for nominations is March 15, 1997.
