Translational Control of Globin Synthesis by Haemin in Xenopus Oocytes

Abstract

Haemin was shown to stimulate α but not β globin synthesis by study of the translation of haemoglobin mRNA in Xenopus oocytes. Haemin acted at the translational level in this system.
