Change in RNA Polymerase associated with the Shutoff of Host Transcription by T4

Abstract

An RNA polymerase mutant of E. coli defective in the shutoff of host transcription by T4 has been used to find a correlation between RNA polymerase modifications and host shutoff. A change has been found which is delayed in the mutant. It seems to be related either directly or indirectly to shutoff of host transcriptions by T4 and does not require T4 protein synthesis.
