Abstract
SUSCEPTIBLE chickens infected with acute Marek's disease herpes virus develop lymphomas of the gonads and other tissues, which are multifocal in origin and usually consist of a mixed population of lymphocytes, blast cells and reticulum cells. The origin of the lymphoid tumour cells and the nature of the stimulus for their proliferation has not been determined. We have used fluorescently labelled antibody to detect bursa-dependent (B cells) and thymus-dependent lymphocytes (T cells) in gonadal lymphomas.
