Translational Control of β and α Globin Chain Synthesis

Abstract

THE requirement of tissue or species-specific initiation factors for the translation of messenger RNAs from eukaryotic cells is in doubt1–6. We have found that these factors are inside human reticulocytes which influence the selective translation of β and α globin messenger RNAs.
