Abstract
S. EPIDERMIDIS contains an unusual species of glycyl-tRNA (tRNAGlyI) which does not function in protein synthesis but which is able to participate in peptidoglycan synthesis1. During sequence analysis it became apparent that the original material contained two distinct iso-accepting species (tRNAGlyIA and tRNAGlyIB) differing by six base changes and the presence of one additional base in the dihydrouridine loop of tRNAGlyIB. Using the techniques developed by Sanger et al.2–5 the complete sequences of both species have been determined and provide an interesting comparison with published6 tRNA structures. A complete account of the sequence analysis will be published elsewhere.
