Rhodopsin Rotates in the Visual Receptor Membrane

Abstract

Dichroism can be photoinduced in a frog retina once it has been fixed with glutaraldehyde. This dichroism is absent in the normal retina because rhodopsin is free to undergo rotational Brownian motion.
