Brain glucose mediates amphotericin B tolerance

Cryptococcus neoformans is the leading cause of fungal meningitis. Currently, the only fungicidal drug available to treat it is amphotericin B (AmB). Although AmB has potent in vitro bactericidal activity against C. neoformans and genetic resistance to AmB is rare, there is a high incidence of treatment failure.
