Erratum: Isolation of highly pure alveolar epithelial type I and type II cells from rat lungs

Correction to: Laboratory Investigation (2004) 84, 727–735. doi:10.1038/labinvest.3700095

Following the publication of the above paper, the author has identified errors on page 729. The first 10 lines of the ‘Isolation of AEC II’ section should read:

‘The lungs from male S.D. rats (200–250 g) were perfused at 37°C with solution B (0.9% NaCl, 0.1% glucose, 10 mM HEPES, 5 mM KCl, 0.1 mg/ml streptomycin sulfate, 0.06 mg/ml pencillin G, 3 mM Na₂HPO₄, 3 mM NaH₂PO₄, pH 7.4, 1.3 mM MgSO₄, and 1.7 mM CaCl₂). The lungs were then lavaged eight to 10 times at 37°C using solution A (Ca²⁺- and Mg²⁺-free solution B plus 0.06 mg/ml EGTA). The lungs were digested by instilling 7–8 ml elastase (3 U/ml in solution B) at 37°C and incubating for 12–14 min.’
