Ge/Si and Ga/Al variations along the Reykjanes Ridge and Iceland

Abstract

Ge/Si and Ga/Al variations emphasise the distinct chemical nature of the mantle present beneath Iceland as compared with the Reykjanes Ridge. Generation of basalts at greater depth beneath Iceland than the ridge is suggested.
