Abstract
New oceanic data on the structure and variability of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current (ACC) in the Drake Passage and its interaction with the atmosphere have revealed a more complex spatial structure than has been seen before. They also show a significant coherence between surface wind and deep current at short periods. These new results will be essential in understanding the role of processes in the polar regions in global climate dynamics.
