Endorphin from pituitary inhibits cyclic AMP formation in homogenates of neuroblastoma × glioma hybrid cells

Abstract

OPIATES inhibit basal and prostaglandin E1-stimulated formation of cyclic AMP by homogenates of cultured neuroblastoma × glioma hybrid cells1,2. The opiate inhibition is stereospecific and is blocked by the specific opiate antagonist naloxone. Thus, interaction of an opiate agonist with its receptor inhibits adenylate cyclase activity.
