Abstract
WE have recently been studying cultured cells derived from the androgen-responsive mouse mammary tumour, Shionogi 115 (S115)1,2. Here we show, from time-lapse cinemicrographic analysis of these cells, that regulation of proliferation rates by both cell population density and physiological concentrations of testosterone is achieved by changes in ‘transition probability’.
