Mutagenicity of amino acid analogues in eukaryotes

Abstract

A LOSS of fidelity in DNA replication and repair enzymes in both pro and eukaryotes, is often expressed as a mutation. Examples of this are shown in the mutator gene activity of a DNA polymerase mutant of T4 (ref. 1) and mutants with increased ultraviolet sensitivity or decreased recombination2–4. Springgate and Loeb5 have reported the altered fidelity of the DNA polymerase of acute lymphatic leukaemia cells.
