Abstract
tRNA free in RNA tumour viruses contains very little tRNAfMet, whereas tRNA associated with viral 70S RNA contains both tRNAmMet and tRNAfMet. The close association of the initiator tRNA with 70S nucleic acid suggests that it may be involved as a primer for reverse transcriptase.
