Associations between the Incidence of Neurological Malformations and Potato Blight Outbreaks over 50 Years in Ireland

Abstract

RENWICK1 has suggested that anencephalus and spina bifida in man are possibly caused by a specific but so far unidentified teratogen in potato tubers infected by the blight fungus, Phytophthora infestans.
