Evolution of Ribonuclease in Relation to Polypeptide Folding Mechanisms

Abstract

Sequences from seven pancreatic RNAases show a highly variable structure. The evolution of apparently functionless parts of a protein is thought to be based upon requirements for the polypeptide folding process.
