Abstract
MARKED temporal variations in the concentration of 14C in the Earth's atmosphere have occurred during the past twenty years of testing nuclear weapons1–4. The concentrations of 14C assimilated by plants have been shown to provide an accurate record of these variations5–9, but concentrations of “bomb 14C” reported at the same time for human tissues have differed slightly from these10–15.
