The Faeroe—Iceland—Greenland Aseismic Ridge and the Western Boundary Undercurrent

Abstract

The Miocene increase of bottom currents in the western North Atlantic is linked to subsidence, by thermal contraction of the cooling lithosphere, of the sills forming the aseismic ridge east and west of Iceland.
