Abstract
MEMBRANE potential changes across the outer cytoplasmic membranes of green plant cells are associated with photosynthesis1. The question of the existence of electrical potential on chloroplast membranes is important for elucidating the connexion between electrogenesis and photosynthesis: light-induced generation of a potential difference on the chloroplast membrane is an essential feature of the chemiosmotic hypothesis2.
