Human Repetitious DNA, Satellite DNA and Chromosome Interarm Fibres

Abstract

IT is of interest that RNA (cRNA) made complementary in vitro to human repetitious DNA has been found to hybridize with human chromosomal DNA at the centromeres and at the ends of the arms in light microscope cytological preparations1. These are the locations where we saw the largest number of DNA-containing interarm fibres in electron micrographs of whole mount human mitotic chromosomes2 (Fig. 1).
