Abstract
THERE have been several reports of somatic association of homologous chromosomes1–4. The significance of the phenomenon, for meiosis and evolution has been a matter of speculation4,5. In a study of Tasmanian rat kangaroo (Pt-Kl line) chromosomes labelled with tritium, we have observed chromosome configurations demonstrating homologue association at metaphase.
