Abundance of Iron in the Solar Photosphere

Abstract

Recent measurements of iron f-values indicate that the iron abundance derived from neutral iron lines formed in the solar photosphere based on older f-values should be increased by a factor of 5. This increase is partially offset if the damping constant is taken into account.
