Strain Variations in the Primary Humoral Response of Rats and its Susceptibility to Inhibition by Anti-lymphocytic Antibody

Abstract

BECAUSE strain dependent differences in the primary humoral response of mice have been reported1–6, we have examined the primary humoral response of a number of inbred and random bred strains of rats and also determined the effect of anti-lymphocytic antibody on this process. The results of our preliminary studies indicate that, in the various groups of rats studied, marked variations occurred both in the primary immune response and in its susceptibility to anti-lymphocytic antibody inhibition.
