Abstract
THE “lymphoid tumour” of the amphibian Xenopus laevis was described in 1962 (ref. 1). It is characterized by foci of infiltrating tumoral cells, chiefly in the liver, spleen and kidneys1,2. The disease can be transmitted to apparently healthy young and adult isologous and homologous Xenopus by tissue transplantation2,4 and by cell-free filtrates2,5,6.
