Neural Control of Acetylcholine-sensitivity in Rat Muscle Fibres

Abstract

IN the rat, the extensor digitorum longus (EDL) is a fast contracting muscle, while the soleus is a slow muscle1, but the contraction characteristics, as well as the histo-chemical features of the muscles, can be converted to the opposite type by cross-innervation2–5.
