Kinetic Study of the Production of Antibody-forming Cells from their Precursors

Abstract

THERE is considerable evidence to indicate that, in the mouse, the immediate precursor of the antibody-forming cell is derived from an antigen-insensitive stem cell present in bone marrow1–3. Following immunization with sheep erythrocytes (SRBC), such precursor cells normally proliferate and differentiate giving rise to specific antibody-forming progeny4–6.
