Abstract
DURING the process of sex differentiation, male and female metabolic systems develop in the flower. Their unification at pollination creates a single system with a metabolism of extremely high intensity1–3. Electrophysiology may show when the pollen starts to affect the pistil tissue and give information about the nature of the primary reactions induced.
