Abstract
Ruthalicia (Physedra Hook. f.) has been established1 out of two African species Physedra longipes Hook. f. and P. eglandulosa (Hook. f.) Hutch. and Dalz., and is considered a taxonomic synonym of Coccinia Wight and Arn. which again is a taxonomic synonym of Staphylosyce barteri Hook. f. transferred to Coccinia by Keay2.
