Abstract
FEW results are available on the occurrence of trace amounts of cobalt in sea-water. Noddack and Noddack1 and Black and Mitchell2 reported obtaining the values 0.1 µg cobalt/kg and less than 0.3 µg cobalt/1., using emission spectrometry. Ishibashi3 obtained a value of 0.4–0.7 µg cobalt/1. by spectrophotometry. With improved spectrophotometry, Weiss and Reed4 and Thompson and Laevastu5 found values of 0.038 µg cobalt/1. and 0.2–0.3 µg cobalt/1. respectively.
