Preparation, Properties and Metabolism of Iodinated Bromosulphthalein

Abstract

BROMOSULPHTHALEIN (phenoltetrabromophthalein disulphonate sodium) is metabolized by organisms and forms a conjugate with glutathione1–4. Rose bengal (tetrachlortetraiodofluorescein), which resembles bromosulphthalein in structure, does not form similar conjugates but undergoes partial deiodination in the organism5–7.
