Abstract
THE nucleotides and purines extracted from muscle were separated on anion-exchange columns and estimated by the methods of Hurlbert et al.1, as modified by Kassemsarn et al.2 and Jones3. Fractions of eluate containing the nucleotide or purine peaks were identified by their absorbances at 260 mµ. After bulking the fractions in each peak, the solutions were made 2 N with respect to hydrochloric acid, and quantitatively determined by measuring the extinction of the solutions in the ultra-violet region.
