Periodicity of Absorption Properties in Pigments based on Vitamin A2 from Fish Retinæ

Abstract

THE results presented here concern the absorption properties and vitamin A base of visual pigments extracted from the retinæ of eighteen species of fishes inhabiting North American waters. The methods used here have been fully described elsewhere1. All retinal extracts were tested for pigment homogeneity by the method of partial bleaching2. The results are listed in Table 1.
