Suppression of Experimental Allergic Encephalomyelitis by Cytotoxic Drugs

Abstract

THE action of cytotoxic drugs in experimental allergic encephalomyelitis is of interest in the examination of the mechanism of this disease in animals and may have therapeutic implications for auto-immune disease in man. Hoyer et al.1 have shown that 6-mercaptopurine can suppress experimental allergic encephalomyelitis in rabbits and guinea pigs, but Field2 has reported negative findings in the latter species.
