Abstract
IT has been proposed on the basis of pharmacological evidence that recurrent facilitation of spinal motoneurones in the cat is actually a removal of background inhibition, that is, a disinhibition1. The results of initial intracellular investigation have been consistent with this hypothesis2. It is the purpose of this communication to present direct evidence which lends strong support to the disinhibition hypothesis.
