Developments in the Propagation of Clones of Hevea brasiliensis by Cuttings

Abstract

CLONES of Hevea brasiliensis are normally bud-grafted on seedling rootstocks. In an attempt to overcome the disadvantages inherent in this practice, the Rubber Research Institute of Malaya is conducting an investigation of methods of establishing clones as trees growing on their own roots. Encouraging results are being obtained by rooting leafy clonal cuttings under special conditions which include the application of water as a mist spray.
