Abstract
SEVERAL papers1–3 have been published recently reporting an enhancement of the coincidence rate due to photons detected by photomultiplier tubes viewing coherent light beams. Here we wish to report on the effect of varying several of the factors which influence the magnitude of the enhancement, in particular the degree of polarization of the beam and the resolving time of the coincidence apparatus. The variation of the enhancement with spectral line width (0.006 A. and 0.009 A.) has been reported previously3 to be in agreement with the theoretical predictions.
