Abstract
THE extensive introduction under cell culture conditions of 5-bromodeoxyuridine and 5-iododeoxyuridine into the deoxyribonucleic acid of a cell strain derived from a human tumour was recently reported1,2. Prusoff et al. and Mathias and Fischer3–6 have recently reported in vitro and in vivo animal studies with 5-iododeoxyuridine. In vivo studies in this laboratory have been oriented towards possible uses of labelled 5-iododeoxyuridine in the investigation of nucleic acid metabolism of human leukæmic leucocytes as well as other tissues in which cell proliferation is extensive.
