Abstract
IN 1949, Ganguly1 observed the presence of an enzyme in pig pancreas capable of hydrolysing vitamin A ester. Recently, McGugan and Laughland2 have demonstrated vitamin A esterase activity in rat-liver homogenates. Observations in this laboratory fully confirm this report, and show that the activity is located in the microsomal fraction of the homogenate.
