Abstract
THERE has been much discussion in recent months of the problem of incentives as a means of encouraging increased effort and productivity in industry.Apart from economic and related aspects,the matter is of cosiderable interest to psychologists, social scientiste and many other scientific workers, and it raises many issues which come into the field of scientific management.
